VIPPSTAR’s Scientific Coordinator Appointed to the Académie Nationale de Médecine
The VIPPSTAR consortium is delighted to celebrate the appointment of our Scientific Coordinator, Professor Elisa Fazzi, as a Foreign Corresponding Member of the Académie Nationale de Médecine. This deeply prestigious recognition, awarded by one of Europe’s most respected medical institutions, marks an important milestone for both Professor Fazzi and the VIPPSTAR project.
Professor Fazzi is Director of the Unit of Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry at ASST Spedali Civili di Brescia, and a Full Professor at the University of Brescia. She has long been a leading voice in neurodevelopmental health, mental health, and child neuropsychiatry, with a career dedicated to advancing care for children through science, clinical innovation, and international collaboration.
Her new role within Division IV - Public Health of the Académie will allow her to contribute even more directly to the development of policies and knowledge around child and adolescent health in Europe. The appointment is a clear recognition of her longstanding commitment to the field and her exceptional scientific and clinical contributions.
As Scientific Coordinator of VIPPSTAR, Professor Fazzi leads a consortium committed to creating a more inclusive and supportive future for children and adolescents with visual impairment. Funded by the Horizon Europe programme, VIPPSTAR brings together researchers, clinicians, and patient advocates from across Europe to co-develop digital health tools, AI-driven personalisation, and innovative care strategies grounded in real-world data.
This recognition is not only a personal achievement for Professor Fazzi. It is also a strong endorsement of the scientific excellence and public health relevance of the VIPPSTAR project. At its core, VIPPSTAR aims to empower children and young people with visual impairment to access tailored, effective support, and to ensure that no child is left behind because of a disability.
The entire consortium joins together in offering heartfelt congratulations. Professor Fazzi’s leadership continues to inspire all of us, and her appointment to the Académie strengthens the visibility and impact of our shared mission.
Congratulations, Professor Fazzi, from the whole VIPPSTAR Consortium!
